Frequently asked questions
Can mosaic pots stay outside in winter?
Yes, a mosaic pot can stay outside in winter, as long as it can drain well so no water is left standing, and you seal the grout (the joints between the mosaic tiles) once a year in spring by applying a water-repellent product. Raise the pot slightly off the ground, for example on feet or tiles, so water can always drain away.
What size pot do I need?
For houseplants, choose a pot that is 2 to 4 centimetres wider than the current one. For an eye-catcher beside the front door, a height of one third to one half of the door height looks best, so roughly 80 to 115 centimetres for a standard door.
Is every piece truly unique?
Yes. Every mosaic is laid by hand, without moulds. No two pieces are alike, so your pot or vase exists only once.
Can my company logo go into the mosaic?
Yes, your logo is laid into the mosaic piece by piece, not a sticker or print. You first receive a mosaic design to approve, so you know exactly what will be laid.
What does a mosaic pot or vase cost?
The collection starts from 135 euro. Large formats and amphorae are made to order. For custom work you always receive a personal proposal with a price indication first, and you decide only after that.
How long does custom work take?
Allow six to ten weeks from approval to delivery. Along the way you receive photos, so you can follow along as your piece takes shape.
Where do you deliver?
We deliver throughout the Netherlands and Belgium, right to the spot where the pot or vase will stand.
How do I clean a mosaic pot?
Use a soft brush or cloth with water and, if needed, a pH-neutral cleaner. Avoid harsh abrasives. Seal the grout (the joints between the mosaic tiles) once a year, meaning you apply a water-repellent product, to keep it looking good.
Are the pots suitable for indoors and outdoors?
Yes. Indoors, in a decorative pot without a hole, use an inner pot with hydro granules (clay pebbles, also called LECA, that buffer water so the roots do not sit in water). Outdoors, choose a pot with a drainage hole and raise it slightly off the ground.
What is Masr inspired by?
Masr is the Arabic word for Egypt. The collection is inspired by the Egyptian mosaic tradition: handmade glass mosaic, laid piece by piece.
