About Masr

Masr means Egypt.

The name refers to Egypt: the mosaic art of that country inspires every pot and vase we make. Each piece is laid by hand, tile by tile, and no two are alike: a unique piece for your garden, terrace or business.

The story

Laid by hand, tile by tile

Masr draws inspiration from the Egyptian mosaic tradition, where the craft is passed down from generation to generation. Fathers taught it to their children, who now pass it on in turn.

In that tradition the glass is cut by hand and laid onto the pot tile by tile, thousands of tiles per pot. Every hand lays a little differently: a touch more space between the joints here, a tile that catches the light differently there.

That is why no two models are identical. The pot that ends up in your garden stands nowhere else in the world.

The people behind Masr

Every piece chosen by hand

Behind Masr stands a family with an eye for mosaic. We choose every pot and vase by hand, piece by piece, because no two are alike. We only add pieces to the collection that we are proud of ourselves.

From a low bowl for the terrace table to an amphora of well over a metre for the driveway: tell us what you are looking for and we are happy to think along with you about colour, model and size.
