A logo in mosaic: how custom work for businesses works

Yes, your company logo really can be done in mosaic. On a custom pot or vase, your logo is laid into the design piece by piece: no sticker, print or engraving, but handwork that lasts for years.

A pot with your logo in it is a business card that stays put, literally. Masr Potten & Vazen makes handmade mosaic pots and vases inspired by Egyptian mosaic art, and on request works your brand identity into them. Masr is the Arabic word for Egypt. In this guide you will read how custom work with a logo works, which businesses it suits and where to place a pot like this.

Can your logo really be worked into mosaic?

Short answer: yes. Where many businesses think of a sticker or an engraved plate, we go a step further. Every piece of glass or stone is laid by hand, so your logo becomes part of the pattern instead of sitting loosely on top of it. Because no moulds are involved, every piece is unique: no two pots are exactly the same. That also means you are free to choose the colour, model and size, and that your logo is laid in piece by piece.

Does every logo work? Most do. A logo with clear shapes and recognisable colours translates most beautifully into mosaic. Very fine lines or small letters call for a larger pot, so there is room to build them up cleanly. Not sure whether your logo is suitable? Feel free to send it in and we will think along with you.

Which businesses does a pot with a logo work for?

A pot with a logo works anywhere visitors come in or walk past. Think of the spot where the first impression counts: the entrance, the terrace or the facade. We mostly see custom work with a logo turn up at:

  • Hotels and B&Bs, at the entrance or on the terrace as a warm welcome
  • Restaurants and cafés, on either side of the door or on the outdoor terrace
  • Offices, in the lobby or along the driveway to the car park
  • Shops, in the window or next to the front door to carry the brand identity through
  • Practices, salons and showrooms, where a well-kept entrance builds trust

The common thread: a logo in mosaic turns an ordinary planter into a business card. Visitors see your brand before they are inside, and a handmade piece radiates care and quality.

How does the design process work?

It starts with your logo and a few wishes. Based on that, we make a mosaic design that you get to approve in advance, so you know exactly how it will look before anything is laid. Broadly speaking, you go through three steps:

  1. Send it in. You send your logo, preferably as a vector file, plus your colour wishes and the size you want. Also tell us where the pot will stand, as that helps with the size.
  2. Design for approval. We translate your logo into a mosaic design and show which glass colours we will use. You give the go-ahead or adjust it until it is right.
  3. Handwork and delivery. Once you approve, the pot is laid by hand, piece by piece. Along the way you get photos, and we deliver right to the spot.

Want several pots in the same style, for example a set for different locations? That is possible: we keep the design and colours consistent, so a series looks like a family.

How long does it take and what does it cost?

Custom work takes time, because everything is done by hand. Count on six to ten weeks from approval to delivery, depending on size and quantity. In the meantime we keep you posted with photos from the process. The collection starts from €135, and we make large sizes or series on request. When you request a quote, you get a proposal with a price indication within two working days.

The easiest way is to send your request through our quote page with your logo attached. Then we can think along right away about size, colour and quantity.

A pot with a logo comes into its own in a spot where people really see it. Popular spots are the entrance, the driveway and the terrace. A few tips:

  • At the entrance: place two, left and right of the door, for symmetry and a welcoming look.
  • Along the driveway: larger sizes mark the route and are recognisable from a distance.
  • On the terrace: pick a model that suits your furniture and point the logo towards the walking route.
  • In the window or lobby: here the size can be a bit smaller, as long as the logo sits at eye level.

You can read more inspiration for the right spot and size in our article on a pot for the entrance or driveway.

How do you keep a pot with a logo looking good?

A mosaic pot asks for little, but a bit of attention keeps it tight for years. Two things make the difference. First, make sure the drainage is good: a drainage hole plus a layer of hydro grains at the bottom prevents root rot, and place the pot outside slightly off the ground so rainwater can drain away. On top of that, seal the mosaic grout each spring; that protects the seams against moisture and frost. Water expands as it freezes and can crack seams and pots, so not every terracotta pot can simply make it through winter.

Want to leave it outside during the cold months? In our guide on overwintering a mosaic pot you can read exactly how to do that safely.

Thinking of a pot or vase with your own logo in the mosaic? Send in your logo and wishes, and we will come back with a proposal within two working days. That is how Masr Potten & Vazen turns your entrance into an eye-catcher no one forgets.
